Eco Church Awards
St. Mary Magdalene Church in Bildeston is working towards becoming an ‘ECO CHURCH’- an awards scheme for churches to demonstrate how they care for God’s earth in these challenging times.
‘Eco Church’ is an A Rocha UK project that runs in partnership with Christian Aid, The Church of England, the Methodist Church and Tearfund.
At Bildeston Church we have begun using this scheme to help us live as individuals and as a church community, in a greener way. As individuals many of us are doing much already to care for our environment.
Eco church is a project that helps guide us through different areas of Church life giving us a chance to reflect on our lifestyles and make changes needed for a more sustainable living. Caring for creations is part of showing how we love our neighbours and are faithful to God.
If you would like to be involved or would like more information, please contact me or look on A Rocha’s web site (www.arocha.org.uk) as it has many great ideas and suggestions. This is a great opportunity, it will be challenging but it will be transforming, showing that what we do today in our country can help reduce the effects of climate change in the poorest parts of the world, which have already seen devastating changes to their weather patterns.
The future of our planet is in our hands.
The awards for this scheme are bronze, silver and gold. I will let you know when we have reached the targets needed, in all areas, to receive a bronze award.
God’s blessings, Teresa Lester
