Congratulations to Chamberlin Hall
One of the sad victims of the Covid 19 restrictions is the opportunity lost to the village to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Chamberlin Hall.
The village hall was opened in March 1996, funded largely through a hugely generous donation from the estate of Kate Chamberlin. (pictured). It was her wish to improve and enhance the community facilities for everyone in the village she loved so much. To that end a planning group came together and managed the project from design to build and its grand opening in March
1996.
A wonderful collection of photographs is permanently displayed in the foyer of the village hall which was named in her honour. The photographs capture every stage of the build from marking out what was once part of the farmer’s field to its completion and handing over of the keys to members of Bildeston Parish Council.
We can only hope that in the very near future, when lockdown restrictions are eased, the village can commemorate the 25th anniversary of one of the best village halls in the county.
