Bildeston Parish Council
What we do…
A parish council is the tier of local government closest to the people. It is a locally elected body which represents the concerns and interests of the local community.
Bildeston Parish Council works closely with BaberghDistrict Council, who are responsible for waste collections, planning, communities, environmental protection and council housing. We also work with Suffolk County Council, mainly on Highways issues.
We play a vital role, and can influence, other decision makers and, in many cases, deliver services to meet local needs. We can make a difference!
We have a wide range of powers and in Bildeston these range from commenting on planning applications, highways, traffic, community safety, lighting, litter, rights of way and by providing and maintaining seats, litter bins, dog-waste bins, notice boards and environmental management.
The parish council has the power to award grants to community organisations for capital projects.
If you need to report a problem, you can do this online at either Suffolk County Council or Babergh District Council websiteson:

You can also report issues to the Parish Council who will do their best to help you.
The Parish Council owns and maintains the Market Place, including the Clocktower.
The Parish Council also owns the land at Chamberlin Hall, the car park, the dog park and the play area. All but the play area are run and maintained by a management committee. The Parish Council maintains the play area.
The sports field and pavilion are also owned by the Parish Council and run by a management committee.
